(Patria) - Former US President Donald Trump was heard at a court hearing for conspiracy to overturn his 2020 election defeat. The hearing lasted only 27 minutes. Ahead of the proceedings, Trump called the case proof of corruption, scandal, and the failure of current President Joe Biden. He pleaded not guilty.
Security was increased in Washington for the hearing. Two trials are already underway against Trump, but he is still preparing for next year's presidential elections. The current indictment is considered the most serious. Trump faces four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy against the rights of citizens, and obstruction of justice.
"This is a very sad day for America, and it was also very sad to drive through Washington and see all the dirt and decay. This is not the place I left," Trump said.
"If you can't prosecute them, persecute them," he concluded and abruptly left for the plane.
The next hearing will be held on August 28 at 10 AM local time.
