Trump orders tightening of sanctions against Iran

(Patria) – US President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he has asked the government's financial department to significantly tighten sanctions against Iran.

The reason for the new tightening of sanctions is the US belief that Iran is behind the attacks on oil processing plants in Saudi Arabia, for which the Yemeni Houthis have claimed responsibility.

And while military intervention in Iran is even being proposed to President Trump, he is receiving written warnings in return, speaking of possible Iranian retaliation in the event of an American attack, writes The Guardian.

However, the US President is aware that an attack requires both domestic and foreign political support, for which, again, proof is needed that Iran is behind the attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Shortly before Trump's announcement about sanctions, Iranian President Rouhani publicly called US statements about Iran's involvement 'slander' and an attempt by Washington to further isolate Iran.

In the same address, Rouhani again insists that the attack was carried out by the Houthis in Yemen, and blames Saudi Arabia for starting the four-year war in that country.
