Trump announced a coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year

(Patria) – US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he hopes a coronavirus vaccine will be available on the market by the end of the year.

- We are trying to get a vaccine by the end of the year, or shortly after, Trump said.

Early test data indicate that 'several hundred million doses of vaccine' will be delivered by the end of 2020, confirmed Moncef Slaoui, a former pharmaceutical executive now a member of the coronavirus task force in the Trump administration, during a regular briefing.

Trump added that the US is preparing 'when confirmation arrives that we have a vaccine... to be ready for action'.

He also stated that the economy should start recovering in the last quarter of this year, while 2021 will look 'phenomenal'. In this context, Trump reiterated that he expects federal states to move forward with opening the economy.

- We are back, with or without a vaccine, Trump said, adding 'we will not close the country for 5 years, that will not happen'.

The US President again accused China of spreading the virus: 'It came from China. 186 countries have been affected, and it should have been stopped in China before it spread to the world', Euronews reports.
