Trump announces pause in attacks on Iranian energy facilities until April 6

(Patria) - The White House announced on its X profile a post by US President Donald Trump from the Truth Social network, announcing a pause in targeting energy facilities in Iran until April 6.

"At the request of the Iranian government, please let this statement serve as confirmation that I am pausing the period of destruction of energy facilities for 10 days, until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite misstatements by the media spreading fake news and others, are going very well," Trump stated.

Trump told Fox News' 'The Five' program that the Iranians had requested a seven-day pause from attacks on energy facilities. Iran has said it will retaliate with attacks on energy facilities in the Persian Gulf region if Trump carries out his threat.

The war has disrupted shipping, causing crude oil prices to rise by about 40 percent, liquefied natural gas prices to jump, and fertilizer prices, crucial for food production, to increase by about 50 percent.

Trump suggested on Thursday that Iran allow 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as a gesture of goodwill in negotiations, including some ships under the Pakistani flag.
