Trump on Twitter: We have identified 52 Iranian targets

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump said in a Twitter post on Saturday that the US has identified 52 Iranian targets to be hit if Iran attacks any American or US targets in response to the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

Trump also stated that he does not recommend Iran to "attack them again because they will retaliate stronger than ever before". He added that the US has spent a lot of money on military equipment and will not hesitate to show Iran some of that equipment.

He wrote that Tehran is "very boldly talking about attacking US targets", and that Washington has identified "52 Iranian targets", some of which are very important to Iran and its culture.

"These targets will be hit very quickly and very fiercely. The US does not want any more threats," he said, adding that the 52 targets represent the 52 American hostages at the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.

US forces killed Qasem Soleimani on Trump's order on Friday near Baghdad airport. In the same attack, they also killed the leader of the pro-Iranian Iraqi paramilitary group Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Congress was not asked for approval for this attack, nor was it informed of the attack.

Iran has stated that the killing of General Soleimani was a mistake, and that they will punish Americans.

On Saturday, several rockets were fired in Iraq into the Green Zone area near the US Embassy and a military base.
