Trump pauses tariffs for 90 days for everyone except China - he increased them for China

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump announced that he is pausing tariffs for everyone for 90 days, except for China.

He increased tariffs for China from 104 to 125 percent, after China, as a countermeasure, introduced new tariffs of 84 percent for American products.

"Based on the lack of respect that China has shown for global markets, I am hereby increasing the tariff that the US charges China to 125%, with immediate effect.

I hope that China, at some point, will realize that the days of exploiting the US and other countries are over and that this is no longer sustainable or acceptable.

On the other hand, and based on the fact that more than 75 countries have invited US representatives, including the Department of Commerce, the Department of the Treasury, and the Office of the Trade Representative, to negotiate a solution for the issues being considered regarding trade, trade barriers, tariffs, currency manipulation, and non-monetary tariffs, and these countries have not, at my strong suggestion, taken any retaliatory measures against the US, I have authorized a 90-day pause and a significantly lower reciprocal tariff of 10% during this period, which also takes effect immediately.
