Trump says he will pardon many involved in January 6th attack if he returns to the White House

(Patria) - Former US President Donald Trump has again refused to admit that he lost the 2020 election and said he will pardon many supporters convicted for their involvement in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6th, Reuters reported.

When asked by CNN host Kaitlan Collins if he would admit that he lost to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020, Republican Trump launched into a tirade, making claims that the election was rigged against him.

“It was a terrible election,” Trump said, drawing applause from some in attendance at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire.

His firm stance on his claims of losing the 2020 election is contrary to the concerns of Republican Party officials that it could cost the party support among Republican voters who want to move on and focus on more pressing issues. Trump refused to express regret for the deadly attack on the US Capitol when supporters tried to prevent Congress from ratifying the election result and reiterated his plan to pardon individuals involved if voters return him to the White House next year.

“I am inclined to pardon many of them. I can’t say for every single individual because a few of them probably got out of control,” Trump said.

Trump and Collins frequently interrupted each other as Collins disputed the former president’s numerous false claims about the 2020 election and the January 6th attack that followed a speech he gave that day in front of the White House.

“I have never spoken to such a large crowd, and that is because they thought the election was rigged. They were there with love in their hearts. It was incredible and it was a beautiful day,” Trump said.
