Trump: Israel and Lebanon agreed on a ten-day ceasefire

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump confirmed today that a ten-day ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Lebanon.

The ceasefire, Trump stated on the social network Truth Social, should come into effect tonight at 11 PM our time. And the goal, he added, is to achieve lasting peace between the two countries.

"I just had excellent conversations with the highly respected Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu.

The two leaders have agreed that, in order to achieve peace between their countries, they will formally begin a ten-day ceasefire," Trump wrote.

His announcement followed a meeting between representatives of Israel and Lebanon in Washington on Tuesday, which was their first official meeting in 34 years. The meeting was hosted by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Trump further stated that he has tasked top US officials with working towards achieving lasting peace.

"I have ordered Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Razin Caine, to work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve lasting peace," Trump conveyed.

He concluded his announcement on an optimistic note: "It has been my honor to resolve nine wars around the world, and this will be my tenth. So, let's do this!"
