Trump and Harris Tied in Polls, Tuesday Could Bring Change

(Patria) - Republican candidate in the upcoming US presidential elections Donald Trump and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, are practically tied in popularity in recent weeks, according to the results of a poll conducted by "The New York Times and Siena" and Siena College.

Trump leads by one percentage point, 48 percent to 47 percent, compared to Harris, the survey showed, a difference within the three-point margin of error. This means either of them could win on November 5, Reuters reported.

While Trump's campaign team has had a relatively difficult period in the weeks since US President Joseph Biden withdrew from the race in July, the latest polls show that his support is stable, Tanjug reports.

The poll showed that voters believe they need to learn more about Harris, while their opinions about Trump are largely set.

About 28 percent of surveyed voters said they needed more information about the Democratic candidate, while only nine percent said the same about Trump.

The poll indicates that Tuesday's presidential debate could be a key moment in the candidates' election campaign.

Harris will have the opportunity in the ninety-minute debate with Trump to present more details about what she plans to do.

The election race is so tight that even a marginal shift for either candidate is believed to be significant.
