Trump: Hamas agrees to very important things

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump stated that he is "quite sure" a peace agreement for Gaza is possible and said that Hamas is agreeing to "very important" issues as talks with Israel began, AFP reported.

"I have red lines, if certain things are not met, we will not do it," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked if he had prerequisites, including Hamas's agreement to disarmament.

"But I think we are doing very well and I think Hamas is agreeing to things that are very important."

Trump said he was optimistic about the chances for an agreement as Hamas and Israeli delegations began indirect talks in Egypt to end the war according to his twenty-point plan.

"I think we will have an agreement. It's hard for me to say when, they have been trying to reach an agreement for years and years," Trump said.

"We will have an agreement on Gaza, I am quite sure. Yes."

Trump dismissed reports that he had accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being negative about the negotiations, saying that Netanyahu had been "very positive about the deal".

He said he had spoken with the King of Jordan earlier that day.
