(Patria) - US President Donald Trump took advantage of the early voting option and voted in Florida on Saturday in the presidential election to be held on November 3.
"Just voted. Great honor!", wrote the US president on Twitter, who voted in Palm Beach, near his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Florida is considered a state that Trump must win if he wants to secure a second term, but polls currently show him slightly behind Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
With today's vote, Trump joined the "army" of 50 million Americans who have exercised their right to early voting, ten days before the scheduled elections.
Trump's Vice President Mike Pence also took advantage of the early voting option and voted on Friday in Indianapolis.
Democratic rival Joe Biden also continues his campaign and, with his wife Jill, is traveling to Pennsylvania for two rallies on Saturday. In their campaign speeches on Friday, Biden and Trump clashed again over Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden said Trump had given up on containing the virus, while Trump accused Biden of exaggerating the health crisis to scare Americans into voting for him.
Election polls show Biden leading Trump nationally, but the race is very tight in key states that will be decisive for the election. In three of those states, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin, Trump will go after voting and hold rallies. Biden will focus his attention on Pennsylvania, a crucial state for both candidates, where polls show him narrowly leading Trump.
