US President Donald Trump made a decision on the Western Balkans, extending the emergency measures imposed 16 years ago by former US President George W. Bush, the White House announced today, N1 reports, as carried by Patria.
The decision includes, among other things, the publication of a so-called blacklist of individuals and organizations that are under US sanctions for violating the Dayton Peace Agreement and threatening the national security and interests of the US. Trump signed an executive order related to the Western Balkans for the first time since taking office, extending it for another year.
On June 26, 2001, Bush issued an executive order declaring that the interests of the US are threatened by individuals and organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Kosovo.
The threat posed by the actions of individuals involved in, aiding, or financing extremist violence in Macedonia and elsewhere in the Western Balkans, or obstructing the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and UN resolutions in Kosovo, has not been removed - it was stated in the decision signed by Trump, following Bush and Barack Obama.
Based on that 2001 Bush decree, a so-called blacklist of individuals and organizations was formed, with whom the US government and companies are prohibited from cooperating, and whose assets and financial transactions in the US are blocked. The list, which includes individuals covered by this decision, as well as others of a similar nature, is published by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which operates within the US Department of the Treasury.
Since the beginning of this year, the list also includes the leader of SNSD and Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik. The previously published list includes, among others, Radovan Karadžić, Biljana Plavšić, Sonja Karadžić-Jovičević, Momčilo Krajišnik, Ljiljana Zelen-Karadžić, and Aleksandar Karadžić.
Also on the list are Milovan Bjelica, Ljubomir Borovčanin, Stojan Župljanin, Duško Sikirica, Milan Simić, Hasan Čengić, Bakir Alispahić, Ljubo Ćesić, Valentin Ćorić, Savo Krunić, Zoran Petrić, and Naser Keljmendi.
