(Patria) - Newly elected US President Donald Trump yesterday appointed Devin Nunes, a former congressman who now leads Trump's social network Truth Social, as head of the president's Intelligence Advisory Committee.
"Nunes, a longtime Trump defender who led the House Intelligence Committee during part of Trump's first term in the White House, will continue to serve as CEO of Truth Social," Trump said in a post on the network.
As chairman of the committee, Nunes claimed the FBI ran a conspiracy against Trump during its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, in which Trump defeated Hillary Clinton.
"Devin will draw on his experience as former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and his key role in exposing the Russia collusion hoax to advise me on independent assessments of the effectiveness and propriety of the US intelligence community's activities," Trump wrote.
The President's Intelligence Advisory Board is a White House panel that offers the president independent analyses of the effectiveness and planning of intelligence agencies.
Trump also yesterday appointed IBM CEO and former national security official Troy Edgar as Deputy Secretary of that department, and businessman Bill White as US Ambassador to Belgium.
