Trump congratulates Kosovo on independence: Ties between our countries are strong, we look forward to further strengthening

(Patria) - President of the United States (USA) Donald Trump congratulated the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's declaration of independence, Anadolu reports.

In a letter to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Trump praised the people of Kosovo for the progress achieved, highlighting their perseverance and determination in the process of building independence.

He also emphasized the strong support of the United States for Kosovo and its commitment to building a democratic society for all citizens, without distinction.

-The ties between our peoples are strong and we look forward to their further strengthening, especially through increased investment opportunities, in order to ensure greater prosperity for both countries. The United States will continue to cooperate with Kosovo on strengthening democratic institutions and fostering economic growth through a stable and fair business environment - Trump said.

He also highlighted the expectation that in the coming year, relations with the Kosovo government will be even more productive, and that Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic integration will continue.

-As we work with Kosovo and its neighbors to build a safer and more prosperous region, it is crucial that Kosovo further integrates into the Euro-Atlantic community. Kosovo's unwavering support for Ukraine in facing Russian aggression is highly appreciated - the US president stated.

He added that Kosovo's Independence Day is an opportunity to "reflect on achievements and look toward an even brighter future."

Kosovo declared unilateral independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008, but Serbia still views Kosovo as "its own territory." Five of the 27 EU member states have still not recognized Kosovo's independence, and a dialogue on normalizing relations between the two countries has been taking place under EU auspices since 2011, with the help of some Western countries.
