Trump to meet advisors on Tuesday to discuss Iran options

(Patria) - U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to meet with senior advisors on Tuesday to discuss options for Iran, a U.S. official told Reuters.

More than 500 people have been killed in Iran's unrest, a human rights group said, as Tehran threatened to target U.S. military bases if President Donald Trump carries out threats to intervene on behalf of demonstrators.

With the Islamic Republic's clerical establishment facing its biggest demonstrations since 2022, Trump has repeatedly threatened to intervene if force is used against demonstrators.

According to its latest figures from activists inside and outside Iran, the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) said it had confirmed the deaths of 490 demonstrators and 48 security force members, with more than 10,600 people arrested in two weeks of unrest.

Iran has not given an official death toll, and Reuters has been unable to independently confirm the number. The Wall Street Journal reported that options include military strikes, the use of secret cyber weapons, expanding sanctions, and providing online assistance to anti-government sources.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned Washington against a "miscalculation".

"Let's be clear: in case of an attack on Iran, the occupied territories (Israel), as well as all U.S. bases and ships, will be our legitimate target," said Qalibaf, a former commander of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard.
