Trump to work on ending Sudan war after MBS requested help

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump said he has begun working to end the war in Sudan, revealing that the effort was initiated at the personal request of Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) during their meeting at the White House, Al Arabiya reported.

"I thought it was just some kind of mercenaries, no government, neither this nor that. And (the Saudi crown prince) explained the whole culture and the entire history. And it was very interesting to hear, truly incredible to hear," Trump said at the US-Saudi Investment Forum.

"We have already started working on it," he added.

Trump said he began working on the Sudan file about thirty minutes after the Oval Office meeting with MBS on Tuesday.

"(MBS) said: 'That would be the greatest thing you can do; it would be bigger than what you have already done,'" Trump said, recalling his guest's comments. "Now I look at (Sudan) differently than I did just a day ago," Trump said.

Later on Wednesday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the United States would work with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries to end the "atrocities" in Sudan and stabilize the country.

"There are huge atrocities happening in Sudan," Trump wrote. "It has become the most violent place on Earth and, likewise, the biggest humanitarian crisis. Food, doctors and everything else are desperately needed."
