(Patria) - Iran has stated that their peace agreement proposal sent to the United States was not "excessive", while accusing Washington of continuing to set "unreasonable demands" for Tehran.
Tehran yesterday rejected US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war, stating that accepting such an agreement would mean "submission" to the US administration. Trump soon reacted on his social network Truth Social, calling Iran's response "completely unacceptable".
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated today that Iran is seeking to protect its fundamental rights and that it has submitted "generous and responsible" proposals to Washington for regional stabilization.
According to Iranian media, Tehran's key demands include compensation for damages incurred during military operations, a complete cessation of the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz with guarantees of no further attacks, as well as the lifting of all sanctions and economic pressure.
"Our demand is legitimate, we seek an end to the war, the lifting of the blockade and an end to piracy, as well as the release of Iranian assets that banks have unjustly frozen under US pressure," Baghaei said.
In addition to economic and military issues, Iran also insists on a new security framework for the region. Baghaei emphasized that free passage through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, as well as stability in Lebanon, are key elements of Iran's offer.
"We consider this a generous and responsible proposal for regional stability," he said.
On the other hand, the US administration views these demands as an attempt by Tehran to impose conditions after months of conflicts in the Gulf, which is why they are firmly rejecting them for now.
As diplomatic tensions between the two countries further escalate, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains on the brink of a new conflict.
