Gaza reconstruction costs to exceed $53 billion

(Patria) - The cost of rebuilding the Gaza Strip will exceed $53 billion, stated the Minister of Economy in the Palestinian Authority, Mohammed Al-Amour.

- According to new estimates, reconstruction will cost more than 53 billion dollars. Countries around the world should contribute to the reconstruction. Their participation will be considered at a conference in Cairo - Amour told RIA Novosti.

Rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas, as well as officials from the Palestinian Authority, arrived in Cairo today for consultations on the Gaza Strip.

Amour stated that a multi-phase plan for Gaza's reconstruction is already being prepared.

He thanked Arab donors and the international community for their readiness to provide financial assistance as soon as the war in the Gaza Strip ends.
