Turkish police have arrested three Russian citizens on suspicion of involvement in the terrorist attack that occurred in Istanbul on Tuesday, reports the Patria News Agency.
As reported by the Turkish agency Dogan, the Russians were arrested in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, and "certain documents" were seized during the operation.
The Russian consulate in Antalya confirmed that three Russian citizens are being held in custody on suspicion of links to the Islamic State.
Ten tourists were killed in the terrorist attack that occurred in Istanbul on Tuesday, and Turkish police subsequently arrested 15 people suspected of participating in the organization of the attack.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously stated that a Syrian suicide bomber was responsible for the explosion in the historic tourist district of Istanbul.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus stated that based on the analysis of the body parts, the suspected suicide bomber who caused the explosion was identified as a 28-year-old Syrian.
Relations between Russia and Turkey are likely at their lowest point in history, after a Turkish F-16 aircraft shot down a Russian military aircraft, which Ankara claims was over Turkish territory, while Moscow claims the Russian Su-24 was hit in Syrian airspace.
