On this day, February 26, 2004, Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski died in the crash of a presidential Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft, which crashed near the town of Stolac in Eastern Herzegovina.
Boris (Kiril) Trajkovski was a Macedonian politician and President of Macedonia from 1999 until his death. He was born into a Methodist family and graduated from the Faculty of Law in Skopje, later specializing in the USA in 1980.
Until 1997, he served as head of the legal department of the company Sloboda in Skopje. For one year, he was also chief of staff to the Mayor of Skopje, and until December 21, 1998, he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
