Three people died at the Rača landfill near Zenica

Three people died this morning at the Zenica Rača landfill, and according to initial information, they most likely suffocated from toxic gases while collecting waste, writes Patria agency.

MUP ZDK spokesperson Aldina Ahmić told NAP that the investigation is ongoing, and the autopsy will reveal the exact cause of death.

The investigation is being led by the duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Zenica-Doboj Canton, by whose order the bodies of the deceased were transported to the morgue of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

As confirmed by the investigation, the following died in this accident: D.H., born in 1986, A.A., born in 1987, and Đ.S., born in 1983, all from Zenica.

Activities of police officers continue, in accordance with the instructions and orders of the duty prosecutor, to document and establish all facts and circumstances under which this accident occurred.

Hundreds of people from Zenica, as well as unemployed people from surrounding areas, spend their days digging through the Rača landfill. They collect iron, aluminum, bricks, and other materials which they later sell to survive.
