Three godfathers in the Cetinje massacre: one lost his family, another his life, and the third killed the murderer

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Cetinje will long be under the impression of the massacre in which 11 people were killed. At 10 a.m. today, a commemoration for the victims will be held at the Government House in Cetinje. The session will be addressed by the Mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, and the Deputy President of the City Assembly, Mirko Stanić.

In a sea of horrifying details about the massacre in the Cetinje neighborhood of Medovina, which left Montenegro speechless and in tears over the brutal deaths and tragic fates of ten innocent victims and six wounded, there is also one bright example, no less sad, but heroic and humane, writes the Montenegrin Standard.

This is the story of three godfathers, whose fates changed in an instant: one of the three, Miloš Martinović, lost his wife Nataša (35) and two sons aged eight and 11 in the murderous rampage of the landlord Vuk Borilović. He lost everything, his entire family, reports Standard.

His wife Nataša, when she realized the evil moment, jumped into a fight with the villain, who first shot her son at the front door while the boy was trying to hide.

Unfortunately, she did not have the strength to fight off the frenzied neighbor, so within moments, she and her other son, whom he found having lunch at the kitchen table, were killed by bullets from a hunting rifle.

Sensing that something terrible was happening, Martinović called his godfather Mitar Mitrović (37) for help, asking him to immediately go to their rented apartment and check what was happening because his wife was not answering the phone, and he was unable to come quickly.

Mitrović did so without a word. In the meantime, Martinović received a phone call from the killer, who personally told him that he had killed his wife and sons.

The unfortunate Mitrović, who had recently married and had a child, panicked, left his home, and, worried about his godfather's family, went to the crime scene unarmed.

He ignored the surrounding warnings, hoping to arrive in time to save his godfathers. He did not even have a chance to approach the house; very quickly, he himself became a victim.

Although they were old acquaintances and family friends, Borilović showed no mercy; as soon as he approached the house yard, he shot at him, hit him, and left him dead on the spot.

The third, Nenad Neno Kaluđerović, whom all of Montenegro now celebrates as a hero, is Mitrović's best man from his wedding.

He was not afraid for his own life, and according to preliminary investigation results, he approached and killed the murderer.

He bravely stopped the further bloody rampage and certainly saved more human lives, reports the Montenegrin Standard.
