Human Trafficking: Employee of BiH Diplomatic-Consular Mission in Paris Arrested

Continuing activities within the case codenamed „CD“, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) this morning in the Sarajevo area deprived of liberty one person due to reasonable suspicion that, while performing consular duties at the BiH Embassy in Paris, they participated in the commission of multiple criminal offenses by illegally issuing travel documents for victims of human trafficking to members of an organized criminal group.

For these services, they charged a monetary amount between 500 and 1200 euros, NAP reports. The said person is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority, accepting gifts and other forms of benefit, forgery of official documents, human trafficking, and others.

The suspect was brought to the official premises of SIPA where criminal processing is being carried out, after which, along with a Report on the committed criminal offense and the perpetrator, they will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for further action.

We recall, within the operation „CD“, which began on June 23, 2015, ten persons were previously deprived of liberty due to reasonable suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of human trafficking for the purpose of labor exploitation, money laundering, human smuggling, giving gifts and other forms of benefit, and others. After criminal processing in the official premises of SIPA, these persons were handed over, along with a Report on the committed criminal offense and the perpetrators, to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for further action.

The joint investigation team formed regarding this case continues activities aimed at shedding light on the criminal offenses and documenting the criminal activities of the suspects.
