Treskavica: BiH Armed Forces helicopter engaged in extinguishing large forest fire

The Operational-Communication Center 112 of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina received a request today from the municipality of Trnovo for the engagement of a helicopter of the Armed Forces of BiH in extinguishing a large forest fire that broke out in the area of Treskavica mountain, above the village of Godinja, reports the Patria News Agency.

The fire has engulfed about 10 hectares of land, covered with grass, low vegetation and beech forest, which is mined and inaccessible, making aerial firefighting the only option.

In accordance with its responsibilities, the Ministry of Security of BiH has carried out coordination activities with the Armed Forces of BiH in order to intervene on the ground as soon as possible, given the danger of the fire spreading further to areas covered with beech and fir forests.
