(Patria) - A third US aircraft carrier is heading to the Middle East, according to sources familiar with the situation, Al Arabiya reported.
The USS George H.W. Bush is expected to replace one of the two already deployed aircraft carriers, which have played a central role in ongoing US-Israeli operations targeting Iran.
The USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford have been operating in the region for months.
The US military has deployed thousands of additional Marines and sailors in recent days. Recent reinforcements have included amphibious assault ships and additional fighter jets.
