Detention extension sought for five suspects in 'Transporter' operation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The acting prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption has submitted a proposal to extend the detention for another two months, for a total of 5 suspects in the operation codenamed "Transporter".

Detention has been proposed to ensure conditions for unimpeded investigation, implementation of activities within international cooperation, and all other procedural activities necessary to conclude the investigation and file an indictment.

The extension of detention has been requested due to the risk of the suspects fleeing, as well as the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, influence witnesses or accomplices, or repeat the criminal offense or complete the one started, if they remain at liberty.

In this case, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has cooperated with Europol, as well as partner institutions from several EU countries, within the scope of an extensive investigation against suspects for organized international crime, illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, and other criminal offenses.

This is a case that is significant for the security situation in the entire region, and institutions of the region's countries are still searching for some of the perpetrators.
