Criminal Code Amendments Sought: Prison Sentence for Destruction and Demolition of National Monuments

MOSTAR, (Patria) - On the occasion of the Liberation Day of Mostar, SDP BiH MP Saša Magazinović will submit an initiative for amendments to the BiH Criminal Code, seeking to criminalize the “damage, demolition, or endangerment of national monuments of BiH”.

- Whoever damages, renders unusable, or demolishes a national monument of BiH shall be punished with a prison sentence of six months to five years – the amendment states.

Magazinović points out that this is his modest gift to the people of Mostar, as he hopes that the adoption of this law will prevent living fascists from attacking dead partisans in Mostar.

- Of course, this law does not only apply to the Partisan Cemetery but to all national monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are located in almost all cities and number nearly 800. Until adequate punishment begins, barbarism cannot be adequately prevented. Numerous experiences show this – Magazinović added.
