Seeking Export Partners: Largest Bosnian Aronia Producer at Berlin Fair

Emin Tatarević and his sons started producing aronia - Siberian blueberry in 2012, and today he is the largest producer of this healthy fruit in BiH. He started with 8,000 seedlings, and today he already has 22,000 in the Bihać settlement of Mala Gata, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In 2015 alone, they had yields of 17 tons and from that produced 10,000 liters of juice, 1,000 kg of jam, and 400 kg of aronia tea.

The Tatarević family spent 19 years in the USA, and upon returning to BiH they decided to invest money in their own business. When they started production, aronia was almost an unknown fruit in BiH. Given the lack of sufficient cold storage capacity to preserve quantities of aronia, the Tatarević family also began producing juices, jams, and teas.

The application of this antioxidant fruit is very wide, from the food to the pharmaceutical industry. With the support of the Swiss organization (SIPPO), they will present themselves at the upcoming fair „FruitLogistica 2016“ held in Berlin from February 3 to 5. If they find a partner to help them with exports, they are ready to expand production.
