
(Patria) - The Istrian Police Department reported that yesterday around 6:20 PM they received a report that a man had died at a campsite in the Umag area.
An investigation determined that a Belgian national (48) jumped from a pier into the sea and hit his head on the rocks. The man died from severe injuries after unsuccessful resuscitation.
During yesterday, an incident was also recorded at Cape Kamenjak, where around 5 PM a minor, a Belgian national, jumped from a cliff about 15 meters high and injured her spine during the fall. The severity of her injuries is currently unknown.
To avoid such tragic events, the Istrian Police Department warns citizens and tourists to be cautious when jumping into the sea, specifically not to jump into water of unknown depth and not to jump into the sea from rocks or other places that are not designated for jumping or where jumping is prohibited.
