Tragedy in Kakanj: Four miners killed, two injured

Four miners lost their lives in an accident at the Kakanj mine, specifically in the Begići pit, N1 was confirmed by the Operational Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, reports the Patria News Agency.

As they told us at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, two miners were injured, one of them seriously.

"Last night, one hour after midnight, an accident occurred in the Begići Bištrani pit of the Kakanj mine. Four miners were killed, while one was seriously and another lightly injured. An investigation is underway, led by the cantonal prosecutor of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. The Federal Mining Inspectorate is conducting the investigation, and they are currently in the pit," Adib Zekić, spokesperson for the Kakanj mine, told N1, adding that the cause of the accident will be known when the investigation is completed.

At the time of the accident, there were 28 miners in the Begići-Bištrani pit, and immediately after the accident, the remaining 24 miners, including the two injured, left the pit and safely exited. An investigation by the Federal Mining Inspectorate is currently underway in the Begići-Bištrani pit, after which the circumstances of the serious mining accident with fatal consequences will be known.
