Tragedy in Jajce: Two men aged 61 and 22 drown in the Pliva River

(Patria) - A tragic accident resulting in fatalities occurred yesterday at the Brana bathing area in Jajce, reports Jajce Online.

Two individuals from Donji Vakuf - Esad Čorhusić (1963) and Ajdin Kos (2002) lost their lives due to drowning.

Divers from Scotland, who were diving in the area, spotted the body of a middle-aged man and immediately notified the Jajce Police Station, which then contacted the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) - Jajce Station.

Last night around 8 PM, a GSS member who happened to be at the Brana bathing area found the body of Esad Čorhusić at a depth of four meters in the Pliva River.

After Čorhusić's body was pulled from the river, it was discovered that his nephew Ajdin Kos was with him. Both had arrived by bus from Donji Vakuf the previous day to go swimming.

Due to the late notification of the accident, a search for the second body was not possible immediately. The search resumed this morning, when members of the GSS Jajce diving team spotted the body of Ajdin Kos at the Brana bathing area and brought it to the surface.

- We found the second body and handed it over to the police. Unfortunately, someone has to do that part of the job as well. The tragedy is great because it involves a young man. One began to drown, and the other tried to help, but in the end both sank.

According to the information I have, the younger of the two was a weaker swimmer, but that is only an assumption - says the president of GSS - Jajce Station, Safet Karadžić.

An investigation into the circumstances of this tragedy is ongoing, and members of the Jajce Police Department are conducting an on-site investigation. The duty cantonal prosecutor has also been notified of the accident.
