Tragedy in Croatia: Rally driver Craig Breen veered off the road and died

(Patria) - Irish rally driver Craig Breen died in an accident during a training run ahead of the WRC Croatia Rally competition.

Around 12:40 PM, the vehicle veered off local road 2201 in Lobor, near Zlatar.

Breen hit a wooden post with the front left side of the car and died at the scene, while co-driver James Fulton escaped without injuries, confirmed Hyundai Motorsport, the team Breen was driving for.

"Hyundai Motorsport confirms with great sadness the news that our driver Craig Breen died in an accident in Croatia.

His co-driver James Fulton escaped without injuries. We wish to express our condolences to Craig's family, friends, and all fans.

Hyundai Motorsport will not comment further on this case at this time," Hyundai stated in its announcement.
