Three US Marines killed, around twenty injured during exercise in Australia

(Patria) - Three US Marines were killed and around twenty were injured when their aircraft crashed off the coast of Australia's Northern Territory during an exercise, officials said.

The Australian Department of Defence confirmed the incident.

A V-22 Osprey helicopter crashed off the coast of Darwin.

Northern Territory Police responded to reports of an aircraft crash on Melville Island, the fire and emergency services said.

The incident occurred during Exercise Predator's Run 2023.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said a "tragic" incident involving a US military aircraft had occurred in the north of the country during military exercises and that his government was focused on providing support.
