Bystander killed during Raiffeisen bank robbery!

In Sarajevska Street Rustempašina, in the Ilidža settlement, this morning, unknown persons attempted to rob Raiffeisen bank. The robbers were armed with automatic rifles and wore bulletproof vests.

Irfan Nefić, spokesperson for the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs police, confirmed that the person who was shot and wounded this morning at the Stojčevac picnic area, by unknown persons who robbed the Raiffeisen bank branch in Ilidža, has died.

The death was confirmed by a team from the Sarajevo Canton Emergency Medical Service.

Nefić stated that unknown persons robbed the bank branch at 8:50 AM, in Rustempašina Street, Ilidža municipality, using threats with firearms.

After the robbery, the thieves fled towards the Stojčevac picnic area, where a shootout occurred, and a cyclist was wounded. The fugitives are currently being searched for at Stojčevac, and members of the special units of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs have joined the pursuit.

According to the Patria reporter on the scene, witnesses claim that two robbers exited the bank armed with automatic rifles and entered a car waiting for them outside. They further claim that one person was waiting for them in the car. One of the robbers is exceptionally tall.

- Everything happened very quickly. People were passing by, and one man was at the ATM. It was terrifying to see them with those rifles - says a witness.

Around 10 AM, the police blocked Velika aleja in Ilidža in an attempt to limit the area they could move in.

In addition to this attempted robbery, another robbery was carried out at a Raiffeisen bank in the Hrasno settlement this morning around 9:10 AM.
