(Patria) - Fifteen-year-old Islam Khalilov is credited with saving over 100 people, leading them to safety during the terrorist attack at a Moscow concert hall on Friday.
The teenager Islam works as a cloakroom attendant at "Crocus City Hall", where the shooting took place.
His knowledge of the building allowed him to act quickly to guide frightened concert-goers to safety.
- First, we heard some strange noises on the first floor. We thought maybe some noisy group had arrived.
I realized that if I didn't react, I would lose my life and the lives of many people. Honestly, it was very scary - he explained later in an interview, reports the Daily Mail.
Footage shows Khalilov shouting at concert-goers and directing them towards the emergency exit.
"There, there, there. Everyone go that way. Everyone there. To Expo, to Expo", Khalilov is seen saying in the footage.
- When I was in the crowd, walking towards the doors to open them, I thought the attackers might come out from the stairs or escalators and throw a bomb or open fire.
Thank God, nothing happened. I managed to open the doors in time and let everyone out towards Expo - Khalilov explains.
He also emphasizes that he reacted thanks to preparedness and previous training.
- We were shown and told where to send people if something happened. I knew where to take people to be safe.
