A difficult day for America: Iran shot down two military planes, rescue helicopters also hit

(Patria) - The US Air Force suffered a series of losses and incidents during operations over Iran in the last 24 hours. An F-15E fighter jet was shot down, and two helicopters were hit during a rescue operation, while several other aircraft were damaged.

An F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft was shot down over Iranian territory. According to available information, the aircraft had two crew members. One of them was rescued, reportedly by American rescue forces, while the other crew member is still being searched for and his fate is currently unknown.

Two HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopters participated in the mission to rescue the downed pilots. Both helicopters were hit. All crews are safe, but it has been confirmed that there are injured among them.

In addition to the mentioned incidents, Iranian fire also hit an A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft. The pilot managed to eject safely and was rescued.

The plane crashed into the Persian Gulf in the south of the country near the Strait of Hormuz, reported the Tasnim news agency, citing the Iranian army.

The White House confirmed that President Donald Trump has been informed of the incidents, but no further details were released.
