Tesla recalls nearly 200,000 cars due to software glitch

(Patria) - Tesla announced it is recalling close to 200,000 cars in the US due to issues with camera functionality when the gear is shifted into reverse.

Tesla clarifies that the models being recalled are Y, S, and X from last year, all equipped with the "Full Self-Driving" 4.0 computer, reports Associated Press.

The company stated in documents released by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that software instability can prevent cameras from displaying the area behind the car when reversing, increasing the risk of a collision.

Tesla stated that it has no data indicating any accidents or injuries have been reported due to this issue so far, and that the problem has been resolved with an over-the-air software update.

The company began receiving complaints about the camera issue in late December, after which it was decided to recall the vehicles.
