(Patria) - A serious traffic accident occurred today in which one of the old trams derailed at the station near the National Museum of BiH. One person died, confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.
Almost the entire tram station was demolished, and traffic is blocked.
The Operational Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton stated that teams are on the ground.
Police officers and emergency medical services are at the scene. There are also injured persons. Members of the Sarajevo Canton Fire Brigade are also on the scene, cutting the tram to extract an injured person. Traffic is currently suspended on this section.
"One person died in the tram accident in the Centar municipality. Two people were injured, according to current data. The prosecutor has been informed. Police officers are on the scene," the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate announced.
According to information, the tram was travelling from the direction of the Railway Station towards Skenderija.
