Tešanj in Austrian Media: A Bosnian Economic Miracle

The World Bank has promoted the Bosnian town of Tešanj as one of the most successful municipalities in BiH. The best investment environment in BiH has been created in Tešanj so far, reports the news agency Patria.

Unemployment, failed privatisation, economy on its knees: these are the images of many towns and municipalities in BiH. But not in Tešanj.

In this old Bosnian town, where, incidentally, the first theatre performance in BiH was staged, the economy is thriving. In the last two years alone, Tešanj has increased the number of jobs by 15 percent, and in the last four years, exports from this municipality have grown by 90 percent, currently amounting to 350 million euros.

As many as 2,255 companies are registered in Tešanj. Among the 100 largest companies in BiH, 23 have their headquarters in this Bosnian town. Last year, the renowned Financial Times ranked Tešanj, together with the neighbouring municipalities of Teslić and Žepče, among the top 10 places for investment in Southeast Europe, writes the Austrian magazine Kosmo.
