Terzić: Let them not hide behind the BiH Prosecutor's Office, because the OHR must punish the referendum organizers!

The whole story about the referendum on the Day of Republika Srpska has an pre-election character, with the aim of homogenizing the voter base, were the first pieces of information circulating in BiH, and after the information that the decision was made on the referendum as a response to the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which declared unconstitutional the provisions of the Law on Holidays of Republika Srpska, which stipulated that January 9th is celebrated as the Day of Republika Srpska, writes the Patria news agency.

However, today, September 25th, this decision on the referendum is being implemented before the eyes of the international community, the OHR, and all those who could have, and indeed had to, prevent anti-constitutional actions.

Condemnations of holding the referendum must not remain mere empty words, analysts warn, clearly stating that the Office of the High Representative must react, even though the reaction is already late.

Almir Terzić, a political analyst, points out that the institutions in BiH have done everything they could.

- The Constitutional Court of BiH, by issuing a temporary measure prohibiting further activities related to the implementation of the referendum, is the last in a series of activities by BiH institutions. In fact, everything else was up to the Office of the High Representative, which was obliged to prevent any activities that violate the integrity and sovereignty of BiH, and they themselves have repeatedly said that the referendum is such. We must not allow the OHR to try to divert attention to the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

I think the OHR should react. They are to blame for the referendum being held at all, and in that sense, they should take action without justifying themselves or hiding behind what the BiH Prosecutor's Office will do. I think they are the first to act, and the public in BiH must seek an answer as to why they are not reacting and why that reaction was not adequate – Terzić told Patria.

It remains to be seen whether there will be any dismissals from the OHR of those who implemented such an unconstitutional referendum, and reactions are certainly expected.
