At least 27 people were killed and 75 seriously injured in a powerful explosion that occurred in the center of Ankara at Kizilay Square. The Patria agency correspondent reports that this is the busiest square in Ankara. The explosion was activated around 18:45.
There are a large number of police and ambulances on the streets.
Several cars and a bus were completely destroyed by fire. It is still unknown how the explosion occurred.
According to witnesses, the explosion occurred near the main bus station in Ataturk Square, and many government institutions and ministries are located nearby. Several cars and a bus caught fire, and smoke can be seen from several kilometers away.
The entire area has been evacuated. A Turkish television station reported that it was a car bomb, but, as the BBC writes, this has not been confirmed. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Less than a month ago, nearly thirty people were killed in a car bomb attack in Ankara.
