Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson are expected to meet in Germany to discuss Syria, Interfax agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov, reports Patria.
Ukraine, bilateral relations between the two countries, and other international issues should also be on the agenda.
Lavrov expressed hope that US State Department officials will soon be appointed with whom he can discuss the situation in Ukraine and Syria.
- Such a process takes time because the entire Obama team in the State Department left on their own initiative, as they stated themselves. There are only non-partisan diplomats without heads there now. Rex Tillerson, as a new person in this field, is just getting acquainted with the details of the problems we will have to work on. I am sure that this process will be completed soon, said Lavrov, adding: "But key deputies have not yet been appointed, and key foreign policy areas have not been mapped out," emphasized Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
