Global success of Fojnica-based company MS&WOOD, design award in Cologne

Bosnia and Herzegovina's furniture industry MS&WOOD (“Majstori i Drvo”) has repeated last year's success by winning in two different categories of innovative furniture for chairs and tables at the International Fair in Cologne (IMM Cologne). The jury of the most significant furniture fair in the world awarded the design of a chair and a table from the latest collection "Elle", which was premiered today at the MS&WOOD stand, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The chair and table from the Fojnica manufacturer were designed by Sarajevo designer Nataša Perković and were awarded in the category of winners Iconic Awards: Interior Inovation Winner.

- For the second time in a row, we have entered the ranks of world-renowned manufacturers with our furniture 'created in BiH'. If the Cologne fair is the Olympics, MS&WOOD has run the best time in its category for the second time in a row. The 'Elle' collection was created as a result of excellent cooperation between design and top craftsmen. Our brand has achieved global success, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in its creation. I want to emphasize that Bosnian and Herzegovinian furniture industry has also won with this, because the wood is Bosnian, the designers are from BiH, the craftsmen and managers are from BiH - stated Muhamed Pilav, director of the MS&WOOD company.

The Elle furniture collection is described as 'sophisticated beauty'. Elle is produced using the most modern wood processing technologies on 5-axis CNC machines, in combination with classic carpentry techniques and manual finishing. Both the chair and the table from the Elle collection exhibit a carefully modeled aesthetic side that complements various furniture pieces. The Elle collection uses a minimal amount of material to achieve optimal structural size, and these timeless furniture pieces are made from very high-quality wood.

- The two Imm Cologne Iconic Awards Winner awards won by the Elle collection are a recognition of Bosnian and Herzegovinian design and production. I am convinced that the time is coming when our production and our design will become synonymous with excellence on a global level. I would like to thank the innovative engineers and skilled craftsmen of MS&WOOD who turned Elle into reality. These awards are the result of our joint work - said designer Nataša Perković.

We remind you that MS&WOOD was also awarded the same awards last year at this fair for a chair and table from the 'Primum collection 2016', designed by Ado Avdagić. After the international success achieved last year at the Cologne fair, the awarded collection was included in the Milan Triennale of Art and Design.

The multi-award-winning furniture produced in Fojnica attracted the attention of world architects, interior designers, and luxury furniture showroom owners as early as last year. High-quality MS&WOOD furniture under the label “created in BiH” is already an integral part of the offering in furniture showrooms in New York, Paris, South Korea, Morocco, etc.

MS&WOOD employs 300 workers, produces 600,000 chairs and 100,000 tables annually, which it exports to more than 40 countries worldwide. The plan is for this company to reach a production of 1 million furniture pieces annually by 2018.

The Cologne fair is considered one of the most significant and largest fairs of its kind in the world, where the most modern design, materials, and technologies are promoted at the beginning of each year.
