World Tourism Day: BiH Increasingly Earning from its Natural Beauties

World Tourism Day is being celebrated today in Bosnia and Herzegovina, following the example of other countries around the world.
Various conferences and round tables will be held on this occasion in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Jajce, Mostar, as well as several other tourist cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the Patria News Agency.

The theme of this year's World Tourism Day celebration globally is "One billion tourists, one billion opportunities".

In 2014, tourism revenues worldwide amounted to 937 billion euros, which is 10% of global GDP, 30% of world services exports, and 6% of total exports of goods and services.

Tourism also represents an increasingly significant source of revenue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For example, our country was visited by about 82,000 tourists in April 2015, which is 13.8 percent more compared to April 2014. Furthermore, the Federation of BiH was visited by about 77,000 tourists in July 2015, which is as much as 58.2 percent more compared to July 2014.

World Tourism Day was established by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) in 1979, and since then, this day has been celebrated every September 27th. It is celebrated to strengthen awareness within the international community about tourism and its economic, sociological, cultural, and political significance, writes NAP.
