Bosnia and Herzegovina uses only a third of its export potential, according to the latest World Bank research, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). A smaller percentage of exports in Southeast Europe is only held by Albania.
- Increased trade with the EU could help increase employment and growth, as well as help countries resolve macroeconomic imbalances. Increasing export opportunities would stimulate domestic production and increase economic growth through net export channels – the research states. According to the latest data, BiH exports the most electricity.
Experts from this organization emphasize that BiH must take measures to increase exports, thereby opening up opportunities for new jobs. They highlight the need to simplify export procedures. BiH exporters take 16 days to export goods. At the same time, poor transport infrastructure slows down and is not stimulating for exports, and the World Bank also proposes greater use of the Sava waterway, reports Patria (NAP).
