Testimony of Bakira Hasečić: Both were raped, they looked insane

During the trial of the Višegrad criminal Dragan Šekarić, who was sentenced today by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to 14 years in prison, Bakira Hasečić, president of the Association „Woman-Victim of War“, appeared as a witness for the BiH Prosecutor's Office, reports the Patria news agency.

Hasečić then stated that the man they called Dragan Goraždak was present when Fatima Jamak was set on fire in her house in the village of Kosovo Polje. 

-On that 3rd of June 1992, five vehicles entered the village of Kosovo Polje, where I lived. I fled from the house and from behind the summer kitchen watched what was happening. Five Serbian soldiers entered our yard, among whom I recognized Branko Ćubrilović and Marko Marković, who were my neighbors.

Then problems started in the house. Witness S-1 ran out of the house. Then I heard and saw Dragan Goraždak, whom everyone addressed sometimes as Dragan, sometimes as Goraždak, said Hasečić. 

The soldiers, Hasečić said, asked S-1 and S-3 to make coffee, and after that she saw Fatima Jamak. 

-Two or three men brought her, among whom was Dragan Goraždak. The soldiers pushed Fatima to her house, telling her: ‘Now you, old woman, will put out the house.’ I heard Tima begging. I see smoke, but I don't see flames. Suddenly the flames started. First there was a wail like a cat howling. At that moment two shots were heard. Tima burned in that house, Hasečić recalled.

After that, she saw Dragan Goraždak, whom she believes was the leader, “splashing water from the tap”. 

Hasečić said she did not see what happened in the house where witnesses S-1 and S-3 were, which Dragan Goraždak and Branko Ćubrilović entered. 

-I saw how they looked after they left. Both raped, traces on their bodies, they looked just like I did – insane, said Hasečić.

She confirmed that she recognized Dragan Goraždak as the accused Dragan Šekarić based on photographs presented to her at the police station in Goražde in 2005, as well as in 2013 at the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
