The world is watching the killings in Gaza just as it watched the genocide in Srebrenica!

As the final preparations are being made for the burial of 175 identified victims of the Srebrenica genocide, we watch with great pain the terrifying scenes of the killing of dozens and the wounding of hundreds of civilians in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from the office of Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović, reports the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).

The Head of the Islamic Community reacted to the events in Palestine and strongly condemned the killing of people, violence, and destruction. 

- We watch with great pain the terrifying scenes of the killing of dozens and the wounding of hundreds of civilians in the Gaza Strip, which is accompanied by the destruction of a large number of residential and other infrastructure facilities by the Israeli army. The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina most strongly condemns the killing of people, violence, and destruction in Gaza and demands that the state of Israel cease military operations against the civilian population and their property - the statement said.

The passivity of the international community, especially major Western and Muslim countries, is surprising, as stated by ef. Kavazović's office, which is reminiscent of the international community's passivity towards the suffering of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its allowing the genocide to be committed in 1995.

- In addition to remembering over eight thousand innocent victims of the Srebrenica genocide, we are saddened by the fact that humanity has not yet learned the lessons from the past that speak of the cruelty of perpetrators and the indifference of observers of genocide and the Holocaust, and which remind us that the promises of the creators of today's world order that innocent people will never and nowhere be allowed to be killed again have been broken - it was stated.   

The international public and political factors must also place the protection of humans and human dignity at the center of their attention and engagement, it is stated.

- What are international organizations and associations for, what are the United Nations for, what are conventions and resolutions on the protection of human rights for, what are democratic standards and values for, if all of that is not in the service of protecting humans and human dignity, or if they are applied selectively? The use of excessive force and the terrorizing of an entire nation by Israeli forces, in response to violent actions by individuals or several persons, undermines the very foundations of the modern world and the entire international order - it was stated.

Above all, as Muslims, ef. Kavazović points out, we are deeply saddened and hurt to witness violence and bloodshed during the month of Ramadan.

- Citizens of Palestine and Israel have the right to live in peace and security, and this, in addition to good and sincere will, can be established through just and mutually acceptable solutions - the statement from the Office of the Reis-ul-ulema says.
