Swiss media: Problematic silence of President Kitarović after attacks on Serbs in Croatia

(Patria) - The Swiss newspaper Tages an Cajger published a major article on the situation in Croatia, highlighting that the state leadership in that country is "downplaying the beatings and persecution of the Serbian minority".

The article also states that "widespread nationalism causes fear among many Serbs", and lists more examples of attacks on Serbs, such as the pursuit of water polo players from Serbia on the Split Riva, BHRT reports.

The Swiss newspaper writes that "attacks on Serbs are happening more and more in Croatia" and quotes former Prime Minister and current presidential candidate Zoran Milanović, who mentioned the word "terrorism" in the context of recent attacks on Serbs. The newspaper lists several cases of attacks on citizens of Serbian nationality living in Croatia, such as the demolition of a cafe and the beating of guests who were watching a football match, the stoning of the houses of returnees, and an attack on a tavern owner who refused to play songs by Marko Perković Thompson.

"The silence of President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is particularly problematic, who stated for Croatian Radio Television that it is not her job to comment on daily politics and that she does not want to increase divisions in society," the newspaper writes, as reported by Nezavisne novine.
