(Patria) - The Swiss government announced on Saturday that it had discussed requests for overflight of the country by American military and official aircraft and, based on its neutrality law, rejected two flights related to the war in Iran, but allowed three others, Reuters reported.
"The neutrality law prohibits overflights by parties to a conflict serving a military purpose related to the conflict. Humanitarian and medical transits, including the transport of wounded persons, as well as overflights not related to the conflict, are permitted," the government said in a statement.
Three approved requests concerned two transport aircraft and one maintenance aircraft.
Switzerland also announced that future overflight requests would be rejected if they exceeded normal traffic and if the purpose of these overflights could not be determined.
