Everyone to the National Museum of BiH: All-day activities, exhibitions, screenings on February 1st...

On the occasion of the 128th anniversary of the National Museum of BiH, the most important contemporary scientific-educational and cultural institution in BiH, on February 1, 2016, from 12:00 to 20:00, an all-day presentation of museum work, the building of the Department of Natural Sciences, an all-day screening of documentaries about the National Museum, the building of the Department of Ethnology, a sales exhibition of museum publications, souvenirs, old postcards and posters at promotional prices, the building of the Department of Natural Sciences will be held.

At 14:15, the exhibition "About Kouros, about Kore, about people and gods" will be opened, building of the Department of Natural Sciences.

From 17:00 to 19:00 - Exhibition of the original Sarajevo Haggadah, building of the Department of Archaeology

Also, visitors will be able to tour the museum exhibits with expert guidance from curators at 14:00, 16:00, and 18:00.

The exhibition "About Kouros, about Kore, about people and gods" was prepared by Prof. Dr. Adnan Busuladžić, and it consists of exhibited items belonging to a private collection that is being presented to the domestic and world public for the first time. It includes 19 different items; glass vessels, metal sculptures, and ceramic figurines. The collection dates back to a wide period of the Greco-Roman civilizational cultural circle, from the 7th century BCE to the 4th century CE. The most important, most valuable, and most interesting item from the exhibited private collection is the silver kouros - a prototype of a naked young man whom the ancient Greeks perceived as a symbol of heroism, fearlessness, strength, and beauty.

The exhibition will be opened by the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Adil Osmanović, and the acting director of the National Museum of BiH, Dr. Mirsad Sijarić.
